Josh King

7ed41437-a45d-4743-80d9-a9160c6e82e6Joshua King provides a range of intellectual property services, with particular emphasis in the areas of trademarks, patents including biotechnology, medical devices, mechanical devices, and plant patents, and related litigation including trademark, patent and unfair competition litigation. Mr. King’s practice also includes assisting companies to organize and implement intellectual property programs, including trademark and branding of products, laboratory and disclosure procedures, and intellectual property aspects of employee, contractor and joint development relations. Mr. King received a B.A. in Biology from the University of Utah (emphasis in genetics and biochemistry), and a J.D. from Cornell Law School (Moot Court Board). Mr. King has worked as a researcher at the University of Utah Department of Cellular, Viral and Molecular Biology and co-authored two publications concerning the nucleotide sequence of genes encoding heat shock proteins (now commonly referred to as stress proteins). After law school, Mr. King worked at two national intellectual property firms and as Senior Manager of Intellectual Property for Biomax Technologies (U.S.A.) Inc. Mr. King has sat on the Board of Advisors of the Center for Advanced Study and Research on Intellectual Property (CASRIP) and on the Biotechnology Grant Review Board of the Science Council of British Columbia. Mr. King is registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office, and is admitted to practice in the states of Washington and California (presently inactive) and before the Courts of Appeals for the Federal Circuit and the Ninth Circuit, the Eastern and Western District Courts of Washington, and the Central and Southern District Courts of California. Mr. King was recently lead counsel for OMAX in OMAX Corporation v. Flow International Corporation, Western District of Washington, in which OMAX was paid $29 million as a part of settlement.
